The department covers around 65,000 schools, 2.5 lakh teachers, and more than one crore children. The Mid Day Meal Programme is Government of India’s flagship programme for the achievement of Universalization of Elementary Education (UEE). It is being implemented by the department in partnership with the State Government to cover Karnataka. Nourishing Schools has partnered with the department to develop a training module and comic for mid-day meal cook-cum-helpers on food safety, nutrition and hygiene as per the Central Government guidelines.
