Change Catalysts is an innovative programme by the Nourishing Schools Foundation to empower young agents of change and promote holistic development across India. This innovative three-level programme is designed to equip schoolchildren with essential 21st-century skills, enable them to become health and wellness ambassadors, and drive positive social change.

How can schoolchildren benefit?
Transformative Experiences and Recognition: It offers students transformative experiences and recognition, setting them apart as catalysts for positive social change.
Development of 21st Century Skills: It equips students with essential 21st-century skills. Students enhance their leadership abilities, foster creativity, and hone problem-solving skills.
Promotion of Healthier Lifestyles and Social Change: It helps students adopt and promote healthier lifestyles by instilling values of health and wellness. It empowers students to take action and drive social change by cultivating a generation of proactive individuals committed to making a difference in their communities.

How can schoolchildren get started?
Schoolchildren can start their journey by signing up for our free online modules here. These modules are Level 1 of our programme and are open to all schoolchildren across India. What is the Nourishing Schools Foundation?
The Nourishing Schools Foundation aims to empower young changemakers aged 9-14 years. It utilises innovative approaches to equip students with essential 21st-century skills while promoting healthier lifestyles and addressing critical social issues like malnutrition.
Through a comprehensive toolkit approach, the Nourishing Schools Foundation has impacted over 60,000 children in 230+ government schools, fostering holistic development through engaging games, activities, and practical experiences like school gardening. It is now extending its reach to children in private schools, supporting comprehensive education and holistic development through its pioneering Change Catalysts programme.

Nourishing Schools Foundation has won numerous accolades, such as the Data for Good Exchange India Empowerment Challenge supported by Dasra, Bloomberg, Societal Platform, Stanford PACS, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the NASSCOM Foundation Social Innovation Catalyst Program. Its membership in the international School Meals Coalition and role as an Independent Dialogue Convenor for the United Nations Food System Summit highlight its leadership in global initiatives to enhance child nutrition and education.

What are the three levels?

Level 1 SEED (Sowing Essential Education on Diet): Schoolchildren can access curated resources on nutrition, hygiene, and food education. Information from reputable sources like the WHO, the National Institute of Nutrition, and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India ensures accuracy and reliability. The resources include interactive quizzes for self-evaluation. It is aimed at children from 6th grade and above. Accessing these resources is free, with the option of paying for an e-certificate for completing all ten modules (See the How Can I Get Started Section above for more details).

Level 2 CULTIVATE (Creating Uplifting Leadership Through Implementation Ventures And Transformational Experiences): Schoolchildren can lead the rollout of the Nourishing Schools toolkit in their school. This requires a team of at least ten children in the school who are studying in 6th grade and above. They will be supported with additional online and offline resources, including workshops, in exchange for subsidised fees for providing these resources. Schoolchildren who complete this level will receive a hard copy of a certificate of achievement.

Level 3 THRIVE (Transcending Horizons through Resourceful, Impactful and Valuable Engagements): Schoolchildren can lead the rollout of the Nourishing Schools toolkit in a school adopted by their school. This requires a team of at least five children from the school who are studying in 8th grade and above. They will be supported with additional online and offline resources, including workshops, in exchange for subsidised fees for providing these resources. Schoolchildren who complete this level will receive a hard copy of a certificate of achievement.
