Guiding Children On How To Make Their Own Masks

27 July 2020

COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization recently. The rapid spread of the disease worldwide and uncertainties as to its evolution have demanded a global response. Over the course of time, a lot of work has been done to improve the situation and to limit the harmful effects of the pandemic. In these unprecedented times, many non-profit organizations have realigned and expanded themselves to spread awareness and prevention the spread of COVID-19.
Nourishing Schools Foundation has taken many steps to do the same. Everyone, including children, can play a crucial role in contributing to the effort to control the spread of the disease and promoting safer communities.
Our team has developed resources that help children take charge of ,preventing the spread of COVID-19. One such resource is the Make Your Own Mask guide.

COVID-19 is spread primarily through respiratory droplets. These droplets are produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. In this situation, everyone needs to practice social distancing and wear a face mask when they step outside their homes. There are many simple methods to make a simple cotton cloth mask with materials available at home. By sewing cotton cloth or using elastic bands to tie across the cloth, a face mask at home can be made. A simple cloth face mask can be made at home and may help prevent the spread of COVID-19. It is important to notice that the mask securely covers the mouth and nose area and that it is made from breathable and absorbent material.

COVID-19 has changed the ways we live our lives. But, through proper precautions and following protocols, we can protect ourselves and others from being infected. By making the children aware of the situation and teaching them the right methods, they can become the representatives of good health and a better future. Thousands of vaccines are currently being provided throughout the country. Hopefully, by following the necessary guidelines we will be able to gradually return to a safer and healthier tomorrow.
The Make Your Own Mask guide is available in English, Hindi, Marathi, Assamese and Tamil. We welcome the use of this resource by other organisations and individuals.
